Game of Thrones Star Discusses Preparation for Lara Croft Role in Tomb Raider Series

Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner has discussed her preparation for the role of Lara Croft in the upcoming Tomb Raider series. She not only replayed all the games in the franchise but also studied the comics. The collections, each about five hundred pages, became her guides into the world of the legendary adventurer.

Turner wants to create a new interpretation of the character and therefore avoids the old live-action films to avoid repeating their elements in her portrayal.

This is especially relevant given that the series' plot intends to "reimagine" the Tomb Raider franchise and will be directly connected to the video games. Most likely, the story will touch upon the events of the Survivor Trilogy.

Fans did not receive Sophie Turner as Lara Croft very warmly. Some even prematurely "buried" the series. Whether the actress will succeed in embodying the character and pleasing viewers, we will only find out after the first episode airs.

Filming for the first season is scheduled to begin this month – on January 19th.
