Game Developers Feeling the Pressure? Google Unveils Genie 3 — An AI That Creates Game Worlds from Text
While NVIDIA and AMD are competing in upscaling quality, Google DeepMind has showcased a technology that could fundamentally change the very concept of video games in the future. The new Genie 3 artificial intelligence model can transform text descriptions into interactive, fully playable 3D worlds in real-time.
Unlike conventional video generators, Genie 3 doesn't just create a pretty picture; it builds a logical environment. The neural network understands object physics, spatial depth, and how a character should interact with the surroundings. A user can literally write: "a cold futuristic cyberpunk-style city with neon signs and puddles," and moments later receive a location they can navigate, controlling the camera and character.
DeepMind claims this neural network can currently operate in real-time at 20-24 frames per second with 720p resolution. By the way, this announcement had an immediate impact on the stock market — several major companies saw their share prices drop right away.
