Four Loadouts per Class: MMORPG Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen Changes the Approach to Builds
An update is coming for Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen that adds an ability loadout system. Visionary Realms has walked players through the reasoning and the expected impact.
Pantheon’s combat was built around a deliberately small kit of skills — a design that forces tactical forethought before engaging. That constraint gives fights a certain bite, but it also leaves little room for improvisation; many players end up cycling through the same builds repeatedly.
The new loadouts try to thread the needle between preparation and choice. The push actually started with the summoner rework: that class needed to swap pets and moves on the fly, so the team decided to roll the feature out across all classes. Think of it as a practical tweak, not a full systems rewrite — it changes how you arrange tools, but doesn’t hand you infinite options.
Key points, in plain terms:
- Each character will have up to four loadout slots.
- Hotbars can be renamed and keybinds customized (e.g., you’ll be able to label bars and remap buttons).
- Loadout swaps are restricted to out-of-combat only, i.e., no switching in the heat of a fight.
- When you change to a new bar, abilities on that bar receive a short cooldown — a reminder that prep still matters.
The devs also discussed buffs and non-summoner pets. Right now, taking an ability off the bar drops its linked buff. With the larger combat/progression update, that link will be retuned: expect more, shorter buffs in some cases, and a softening of a few long-duration effects. In short, buffs will be redistributed rather than left untouched.
