Flowers Instead of Language: Character Posters Released for the Film "Rosebush Pruning" Starring Elle Fanning

MUBI has put out a set of off-kilter character posters for "Rosebush Pruning" — they’re stylish, a little strange, and somehow insist you look longer than you intended. The picture itself riffs on Marco Bellocchio’s Italian original "I pugni in tasca" (a.k.a. "Kidnapped"): the oldest brother decides to move in with his girlfriend (Fanning), and, as you'd expect — or maybe not — that choice pulls loose a tangle of family secrets (e.g., betrayals and simmering resentments).

The cast is stacked: Elle Fanning ("Prey") leads, joined by Callum Turner ("Eternity"), Jamie Bell ("Filth"), Pamela Anderson ("Showgirls"), Lucas Hedges ("The White Lotus"), and Riley Keough ("Daisy Jones & The Six") — an odd mixture, if you ask me, that promises some tonal jolts.

Dir. Karim Aïnouz ("Invisible Life") steers the project; the screenplay comes from Eftimis Filippou ("The Lobster").

It screened at the Berlin International Film Festival. Wider release is scheduled for April 23, 2026.
