Monster Hunter Wilds May Release on Nintendo Switch 2
Hints about the development of a Monster Hunter Wilds port for the Nintendo Switch 2 console have been discovered in the latest major game update from Capcom — this fuels hopes for a "second wind" for the project, which faced serious difficulties after its release.
The key piece of evidence is a tutorial image in the update files, showcasing local multiplayer with four players on the Switch 2. The low-resolution picture is hidden from the average user and does not appear in the current version of the game, but it is present in the updated files. The discovery has sparked keen interest within the community and generated a wave of discussions about the prospects of a release.
Earlier, a group of Chinese data miners, while analyzing Title Update 4 for Monster Hunter Wilds, reported text strings indicating development of a version for the Switch 2. The data contained information about wireless multiplayer, graphics settings, and a full "300 detailed parameters" for four platforms: PS5, PC, Xbox Series, and Switch 2.
Although these strings disappeared in the latest update, previous leaks revealed that the potential Switch 2 version might include a shadow quality preset for "graphics mode" in docked mode — which surpasses the "very low" setting on PC. Furthermore, in docked mode, the game is expected to output at a 1080p resolution.
Considering the performance issues of Monster Hunter Wilds on PC, such parameters for the Switch 2 appear ambitious — if the stated specifications are indeed realized in practice.
