Filming of the BioShock Adaptation Could Begin in 2027

Producer of the BioShock film adaptation, Roy Lee, has shared an update on the project's current status, which was announced back in 2022. According to him, filming could have started several years ago, but the plans had to be postponed due to the busy schedule of the film crew.

A key figure in the project is director Francis Lawrence. He is currently occupied with other major works: he recently released the film "The Long Walk" and is now focused on "The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes." This movie is set for release in November, but work on it will continue at least until September. Only after completing this stage will Lawrence be able to return to the BioShock adaptation.

Lee did not provide firm guarantees on the timeline but did not rule out that filming for the BioShock movie could start in 2027.

Despite repeated delays, the producer is confident that the project remains in demand. Netflix and Take‑Two Interactive — the company that owns the rights to the game series — are actively supporting the idea of the adaptation. Furthermore, it is planned that the film's premiere will coincide with the release of "potential new incarnations of the game." Roy Lee is likely referring to BioShock 4.
