Filming Begins on "Rambo" Prequel

Studio Lionsgate has started filming a prequel to the "Rambo" franchise titled "John Rambo." The filming is taking place in Thailand, where locations will stand in for Vietnam. The lead role of the young Rambo will be played by Noah Centineo. The plot will tell the story of the hero's service in Vietnam, prior to the events of the film "First Blood" (1982).

The director is Jalmari Helander. The cast also includes Yao Yangyang, Jason Tobin, Quincy Isaiah, Jefferson White, and Time Thapthimthong. Sylvester Stallone is not involved, but a possible cameo is not ruled out. This is the first installment in the franchise since "Rambo: Last Blood" (2019). The premiere is expected no earlier than 2027.
