MMORPG Mortal Online 2 Launches Sprint 16 Update Test

The developers of the MMORPG Mortal Online 2 have launched the test version of the Sprint 16 update. To join the testing, you need to select the testpublicpublic branch. The testing period will last until Monday morning. The team invites players to try out the new features and share their impressions.

The update touches on many aspects of the game, starting with fundamental engine improvements. Version UE 5.7.1 has increased stability and overall performance, as well as improved light and shadow rendering. Furthermore, FSR, DLSS, Amd SDK, and EOS SDK technologies have been updated to their latest versions.

The voice communication system (VOIP) has undergone a significant overhaul. Sound is now processed through the Unreal Engine 5 audio mix instead of a separate system, bringing several improvements at once. VOIP sound now depends on audio zones—for example, reverb is added in caves. A player's voice is muffled if they are behind a wall or underwater, and the sound changes if the character is wearing a helmet. The audible distance of other players has also been increased, the natural sound fade has been improved, and source positioning accuracy is enhanced: sound now originates directly from the speaker's face. Additionally, CPU load has been optimized, network overhead reduced, and the maximum number of simultaneously speaking players that can be heard has been increased.

Important balance changes have been made to the trinket system. Red corals, amethysts, copper, and silver trinkets can now have more points to allocate to stats—however, existing items will require a reroll or identification. The worst physical damage rolls on trinkets have been improved: they now more frequently drop with higher values. Furthermore, the stamina range has been expanded to make it a more attractive alternative to health. Amulets that granted not-yet-implemented skills have also been fixed: for example, "Tracking" has been converted to "Writing," and "Stealing" to "Anatomy."

A new system for dynamic world events has been added. New groups of people or creatures can now spawn in almost any location, with a focus on key points of interest (POIs) and dungeons, making the game world even more alive and unpredictable.

The rules for submitting murder reports have been updated. Reports on attackers can now only be filed within two minutes after death. If a character dies to AI, the ability to file reports is lost—except in cases involving abandoned pets. Killing pets now reduces reputation if the owner has a positive standing in the area and the killer is innocent.

The combat system has also received a number of adjustments. Damage reduction on counter-attacks has been increased from 60% to 80%. Some buffs, such as "Steady Hands" and "Rejuvenation," now refresh when reapplied before their duration expires. Buffs applied by an opponent are removed at the end of a duel.

Changes have also occurred in the magic system. The base damage of the Boulder spell has been increased from 28–30 to 38–40. The damage of the Death Hand spell has been reduced from 32–34 to 25–27, and its cast time shortened from 2.0s to 1.7s. Bugs with the mana system and spell queues have been fixed, making magic use more stable.

The map interface has received important improvements: territory filters can now be combined—for example, to display only guild strongholds. The guild member list is sorted so that online players are always displayed at the top, which is especially convenient for large communities.

Optimizations have affected many technical aspects. Level streaming, server-side processing of large guilds, loading items from the bank, and sorting the guild member list have been improved. Memory leaks when switching worlds have been eliminated, positively impacting overall stability.

Among other new features are support for AI using shields and the ability to push away pets and controlled creatures. Loot priority after killing AI has been introduced: for 10 seconds, only the player who dealt the most damage and members of their guild can collect the loot. The protection values of the four plate armor styles have been normalized to expand the choice of visually diverse but balanced options. Bankers, red priests, and guards who only attack criminals have appeared in the Tindrem Arena hub. The hourly Prominence cost for territory control structures has been increased, which will affect the strategy for maintaining them.

Furthermore, numerous bugs have been fixed, including crashes when logging into the game, issues with the combat tutorial, display of resurrection effects, and other minor flaws that hindered gameplay.
