Dota 2 Expert Evaluates Virtus.pro's Results and Defends Midlaner Abed

American caster and former professional player Avery "SVG" Silverman shared his opinion on the current Virtus.pro Dota 2 roster, admitting that the team has exceeded his initial expectations.

"They have performed much better than I expected, to be honest. The only thing that worked in their favor is that they essentially rebuilt an existing roster and achieved decent success. This gives a powerful initial boost in the sense that they didn't have to build everything from scratch," noted the expert.

According to him, it was precisely the presence of a ready-made core that allowed the Russian organization to avoid the lengthy adaptation period faced by many new teams.

Support for Abed Despite Age

SVG paid special attention to midlaner Abed "Abed" Yusop, whom he calls one of his long-time favorites on the scene:

"I have been one of Abed's long-time supporters, even back when everyone else had written him off. This guy is still good. Yes, he's not in his prime right now, but he is still talented in terms of mechanical skills and very stable."

The caster emphasized that the Filipino player, despite the lack of flashy 30/0 scorelines, demonstrates reliability:

"Maybe he's not the flashiest midlaner who goes 30/0, but at the same time, he never loses his lane, he doesn't get crushed to zero, and he can play almost anything. I believe in his value to the team."

"Not everyone has to be a star and the best player in their role for their team to be good. So I have always believed in this guy while others doubted him."

Context: The Virtus.pro Roster

The current Virtus.pro roster was formed in the fall of 2024 based on the former BetBoom Team lineup. It includes:

  • Abed (midlaner) — former player for Evil Geniuses, Team Secret
  • Nightfall (offlaner)
  • Save- (carry)
  • Mira (support 4)
  • TORONTOTOKYO (support 5, captain)

The team has shown stable results in regional tournaments, regularly reaching the playoffs of major events, although they have not yet achieved victories on the international stage. Nevertheless, experts note the team's progress and its potential for the 2025/2026 season.

The opinion of SVG, known for his criticism of rosters without a clear identity, could be an important signal for the community: even skeptics are beginning to acknowledge that Virtus.pro has found a balance between experience and stability.

Previously, expert Avery "SVG" Silverman expressed a skeptical assessment of the Team Liquid Dota 2 roster. He stated that he does not believe in the current roster and expects changes before the end of the year due to a lack of clear identity and systemic problems in the team's play.
