Disney Removed Fourteen Games from Steam

Disney has removed 14 games from Steam without warning. The affected titles include projects based on films as well as several LucasArts games.

The disappearance was brought to light by a user on the Steamgifts website under the nickname HappyCatEW. This week, the games' pages simply vanished from the store—without any announcements or final sales. Typically, publishers at least give gamers time to purchase before delisting, but this time Disney proceeded without warnings.

The list of affected projects is quite diverse. It includes very old games like Stunt Island from 1992 and Disney’s Hercules from 1997, as well as more recent releases, including Disney Fairies: Tinker Bell’s Adventure from 2014. Adaptations of "Cars," "Finding Nemo," "Chicken Little," and "Toy Story" have also disappeared.

Several LucasArts games were also removed from Steam. Among them are the 2003 shooter Armed and Dangerous, the city-building simulation Afterlife, and Lucidity—one of the last projects the studio developed in-house.

  • Afterlife.
  • Armed and Dangerous.
  • Cars: Radiator Springs Adventures.
  • Chicken Little: Ace in Action.
  • Disney Fairies: Tinker Bell’s Adventure.
  • Disney’s Hercules.
  • Disney Planes.
  • Disney Winnie the Pooh.
  • Finding Nemo.
  • Lucidity.
  • Phineas and Ferb: New Inventions.
  • Stunt Island.
  • The Princess and The Frog.
  • Toy Story Mania.

The removal of titles without explanation once again raises the question of preserving video game heritage. These projects lack a massive fan base, so the chances of their return as remasters or re-releases seem slim.

Disney has not commented on the situation. The reasons for removing the games from Steam remain unknown—as does whether this list will grow longer in the future. It is likely that the company's licenses for certain parts of the delisted projects simply expired—and it simply did not deem it necessary to renew them.
