Digital Foundry dissected Fallout 4 for Nintendo Switch 2 — an excellent port!

Digital Foundry dug into Fallout 4 on the Nintendo Switch 2 and found more good than bad — not flawless, but unexpectedly capable.

There are three performance presets: 30, 40, and 60 fps, available docked or handheld. Visual fidelity (textures, effects) stays mostly the same; the main trade-off is resolution.

Docked: 30 fps → 1440p; 40 fps → ~1080p; 60 fps → up to 720p. Handheld runs between about 900p and 540p.

30 fps is rock‑steady. Push to 60 fps and you’ll see drops, especially in fights — frame pacing takes hits under load.

Bethesda has said DLSS will arrive in a future patch, which could shift the balance w/ improved performance.

Digital Foundry’s take: a pleasant surprise that does a lot right while still leaving room for improvement. If you care about smoothness, pick your fps; if you want cleaner images, stick with lower targets.
