Esports Player Tokyogurl Caught Cheating During Arena of Valor Tournament
It's surprising how she even made it to official tournaments
An esports player from Thailand caused an unprecedented scandal by completely fabricating her gameplay during official competitions. At the Southeast Asian Games during the Arena of Valor tournament, judges noticed a discrepancy between the hand movements of Warasin Naphat (known as Tokyogurl) and what was happening on her screen.
The investigation revealed that she was not playing herself but was broadcasting another person’s gameplay — esports player Cheerio — through Discord. As a result, Tokyogurl was immediately disqualified, and her team, despite reaching the finals, withdrew from the tournament. Consequently, her contract with the club was terminated, and the Thai Esports Federation imposed a lifetime ban. Cheerio, who admitted his role in the deception, also apologized and awaits consequences.
It turned out that Tokyogurl made it to the national team due to her online reputation, bypassing official selections. Her behavior raised suspicions even before the tournament: she avoided in-person training and hid her hands during streams. Legal action is being taken against both involved in the incident.
This case has become one of the most sensational deceptions in esports history, where a player entered a major tournament without actually knowing how to play.
