Creative Director of Assassin's Creed Hexe Leaves Ubisoft

Creative director of assassins creed hexe leaves ubisoft

Ubisoft has suffered another loss. The creative director of Assassin’s Creed Hexe, Clint Hocking, has left the company. Development of the game will now be handled by one of the new series leads, Jean Guesdon. He recently assumed the role of creative director at Vantage Studios, which is now responsible for Assassin’s Creed.

Hocking worked at Ubisoft from 2001 to 2010, returned in 2015, and worked until very recently. During this time, he contributed to the creation of Splinter Cell, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, Far Cry 2, and Watch Dogs: Legion.

Thus, the franchise has lost another veteran amid the company's reorganization. Previously, other creators also left Ubisoft:

  • The former lead, Marc-Alexis Côté
  • The series' lead designer, David Michaud-Cromp
  • Writer Jeffrey Yohalem

Other consequences include strikes, layoffs, and project cancellations. Fortunately, Assassin’s Creed Hexe was not among them. It and several other games managed to avoid the sad fate of the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake.

Little is currently known about the new Assassin’s Creed installment. The company plans to release the action game after it ceases support for Shadows. The plot will focus on a heroine named Elsa. She will have to carry out her business during the difficult times of the witch hunts. The writer for the new title is Christopher Grilli, who worked on Origins and Valhalla, and served as the lead writer on Assassin’s Creed Mirage.
