Clover Bite Studio Reveals Release Date for Metroidvania Grime 2

Clover Bite Studio has announced the exact release date for Grime II — the full-fledged sequel to the metroidvania Grime. The game will go on sale on March 31.

To mark the announcement, the developers released a new gameplay trailer and updated the demo version on Steam, adding a significant amount of fresh content. The expanded trial version gives players a chance to evaluate a number of innovations in advance.

The demo now includes a small part of the second biome — this allows a glimpse further into the story and provides an idea of upcoming locations. Furthermore, new enemies have been added to the demo, which players will also encounter in the full game.

The developers have also updated interactions with NPCs — dialogues and communication mechanics have become more diverse, enriching the gameplay experience. The trait system has undergone a major overhaul: it directly affects the playstyle and character development, allowing for the creation of unique strategies.

Visually, the game has also become more appealing: the Temple locations and boss models have received improvements — the level of detail and atmosphere have been noticeably deepened. Players now have access to difficulty settings, allowing them to tailor the game to their skill level. Another useful new feature is the ability to break out of a grab: this mechanic makes combat more dynamic and provides greater control in tense situations.

In Grime II, players will take on the role of the Formless Mimic — a creature capable of absorbing enemies and adopting their abilities. This mechanic is at the core of the gameplay: the more enemies you defeat, the wider your arsenal of available techniques becomes, and the more flexibly you can build your tactics.

The developers place special emphasis on summoning clones of defeated monsters. These creatures will be useful not only in combat — they will help explore locations, find hidden paths, and solve puzzles. Thanks to this, every battle becomes not just a challenge, but an opportunity to expand your capabilities and discover new strategies for progression.

With the release of the updated demo, players can already evaluate some of the innovations and form a first impression of the sequel. The full release of Grime II will take place on March 31 — very soon, fans of metroidvanias will be able to immerse themselves in the dark and mysterious world of the continuation.
