"Christmas Bombardment" — New World Record DDoS Attack at 31.4 Tbps
Cloudflare has officially recorded and mitigated an attack with a peak power reaching an incredible 31.4 Tbps. This figure is nearly 10 times higher than the records from early 2024, making all previous "largest attacks" seem like child's play.
The attack was part of a large-scale campaign that Cloudflare specialists dubbed "The Night Before Christmas." The peak occurred at the end of December 2025, and the mega-botnet Aisuru was identified as the culprit. According to expert estimates, it comprises between 1 and 4 million infected devices worldwide.
Over 94% of the attacks in this campaign generated between 1 and 5 billion packets per second (Bpps). These are "hyper-volumetric" attacks capable of instantly paralyzing even very large network nodes.
42% of all attacks at the end of 2025 targeted telecommunications providers, 15% targeted IT services. The gaming industry bore only 2% of the hits, but they were extremely targeted.
