The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Enhanced Edition Faces Rendering Issues on AMD Radeon Cards

Players who picked up The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Enhanced Edition on PC have been running into significant graphical problems, with AMD Radeon owners hit especially hard. Cards from the RDNA 4 generation appear to suffer the worst of it: users describe objects and vegetation vanishing from the scene, surfaces rendering as black, and a wide range of other rendering artifacts.

CD PROJEKT RED Points to Specific Driver Versions

Responding to the fallout, CD PROJEKT RED's technical support published a list of recommended driver versions for the updated release. The guidance specifies version 617.14 for NVIDIA hardware, 32.0.101.8993 for Intel, and Adrenalin Edition 26.9.2 for AMD owners. When that recommendation went up, the AMD driver it named had not yet been made available to the public.

Early Testing Already Showed Discrepancies Across RDNA Generations

The Radeon troubles had surfaced even before release, during preliminary testing of the Enhanced Edition. According to PC Games Hardware, the publicly available Adrenalin 26.9.1 driver produced only isolated graphical glitches on RDNA 2 and RDNA 3 cards, but the situation on RDNA 4 was far more severe — the outlet characterizes it as roughly half the graphics simply missing. A pre-release build of the new driver supplied to testers resolved those errors, the publication notes, with display problems on Radeon hardware clearing up after installation. That finding led to a strong recommendation that AMD card owners move to Adrenalin 26.9.2 for the Enhanced Edition.

AMD Ships the Driver, and User Reports Improve

AMD has since released Adrenalin Edition 26.9.2, which brings official support for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Enhanced Edition. For Radeon users, the driver's importance stems directly from the rendering defects in the game's updated version. Early feedback following installation of 26.9.2 points to an improved experience: owners of Radeon RX 9000 and other models say the missing environment geometry and the distinctive black artifacts are gone after the update. Those remain user observations, however, so it would be premature to claim that every possible error in the Remastered release has been eliminated.
