Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will have several storylines
The developers of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 posted a new video that lays out what to expect. Infinity Ward says the team wants to steer back toward the series’ origins — a claim that sounds familiar, yet here it’s tied to the specific setting of the Korean Peninsula. The studio argues that a standoff between the two Koreas gives them a concrete angle on the series’ long-running theme of duty; both sides field modern forces, i.e., armies that map cleanly onto the Modern Warfare playbook.
This entry will unfold through several parallel storylines across different locales, and each viewpoint carries its own drive. The lead is Private Park, portrayed by Yang Masino ("Give 'Em Hell, Malone," "The Last of Us"), whose arc moves from raw recruit to hardened soldier — think of it as a coming-of-war tale, e.g., training, first firefight, then reckoning.
Infinity Ward also places much of the narrative in Hadzin — the hometown shared by key characters — which shapes the game’s emotional geography. The captain of the North Korean army is played by Prisca Kim, while the rest of the cast includes Lanny June ("Baby Driver"), William Lipton ("General Hospital"), and Luke Tenney ("Therapy"). And yes, Barry Sloane returns as Captain Price; his role apparently shifts enough that players will notice changes in both behavior and gameplay mechanics — esp. those who’ve followed him through previous titles.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will be released on October 23 for PC, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series. The package includes a single-player campaign plus multiplayer modes. Interestingly (and not without consequence), Infinity Ward’s reveal has already influenced Microsoft’s schedule: the new Fable was pushed back, at least in part because of possible overlap with Modern Warfare 4.
