The head of Xbox Game Studios, Craig Duncan, explained the strategy behind Microsoft’s exclusives being released on competitor platforms. In an interview with Games Radar+, he stated that the studio’s main goal is to make games available to the widest possible audience.
Duncan admitted that the approach to multiplatform releases is not always consistent yet, as timelines and development capabilities vary across different projects. However, in the future, Xbox intends to be more consistent in this matter.
He cited the Fable team as an example, whose key motivation is the desire for as many players as possible to experience their work. According to Duncan, the studio’s philosophy is exactly this, rather than complicated strategic calculations.
