Bob Iger Has Done His Job, He Can Step Down: Disney Changes CEO

Disney has announced a change in its CEO. The new head of the company will be Josh D'Amaro, who previously led the corporation's theme parks division. He will officially assume the position after the shareholders' meeting on March 18, replacing Bob Iger, who led Disney for nearly two decades.

Iger will not leave the company but will transition to a senior advisor role and remain on the board of directors until the end of 2026. He called D'Amaro an outstanding leader who perfectly understands the Disney brand.

This appointment concludes a period of instability in the company's leadership. In 2020, Iger was already replaced by Bob Chapek, but the latter was fired in 2022, after which Iger returned in an interim role. This time, the search for a successor was planned in advance.

Also on the shortlist of candidates was Dana Walden—the first woman considered for this position. She has been appointed President and Chief Creative Officer, joining D'Amaro's team.
