"Blade Runner 2099" will be a complete story in eight episodes with no plans for continuation

The creators of "Blade Runner 2099" are not planning to expand the project into an ongoing franchise. At Comic-Con 2026 in San Diego, showrunner Silka Luiza explained the series was always meant to live and end within a single season: the team delivered Alcon a finished plot tailored for eight episodes — i.e., a self-contained arc. Production only began after scripts for all episodes were prepared, and while small adjustments were made on set, the main storyline stayed put. Luiza remarked, almost defensively, "We came to Alcon with a complete story that fits into the eight episodes we filmed." For now, that format rules out a second season. The show continues the established sci‑fi universe, set several decades after earlier entries, and all eight episodes will arrive on Prime Video on November 25.
