Swedish actor Bill Skarsgård has issued an official statement confirming he will play the lead in PHYSINT, the upcoming title from Kojima Productions. His video message was published on the studio’s official account on the social network X.

Skarsgård described PHYSINT as “a completely original project” and said he has followed the work of Japanese designer Hideo Kojima since childhood. He added that the chance to collaborate with Kojima is a major source of excitement for him.

"Kojima is a true pioneer in the gaming industry and a creator unlike anyone else. He is someone who masterfully combines cinema and video games. I am very inspired," said Skarsgård.

The actor’s participation was first revealed during Microsoft’s Xbox presentation at Tokyo Game Show 2026. Kojima has said the decision to cast Skarsgård grew out of mutual respect for one another’s work, and the director confirmed that this year the team conducted initial technical tests with Skarsgård and actress Charlie Fraser, including costume fittings, camera work, and 3D scanning of their appearances.

Skarsgård appears on the list of officially confirmed cast members alongside Charlie Fraser, Don Lee, and Minami Hamabe. Specifics about the Swedish actor’s character have not been disclosed.

Kojima Productions bills PHYSINT as a next-generation spy action game and its third original franchise. Kojima has described the project as the culmination of his 40-year career in the industry. The title is being developed in partnership with Microsoft Corporation, which also publishes another Kojima Productions release — the horror game OD. No release date for PHYSINT has been announced.
