Back to the Past with Yokai on April 4, 2026 — First Trailer for the Anime "Mao"

Sunrise dropped the first trailer for Mao — poster attached — and shared extra details about Rumiko Takahashi's manga being adapted. Premiere: April 4, 2026. The series is slated to air continuously for roughly six months.

Music features prominently: the opening, "HEARTLOUD," is by Kis-My-Ft2; the ending, "Juai" ("Cursed Love"), is performed by TRUE — the same artist behind Sound! Euphonium and Violet Evergarden (and, yes, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime). Small aside: that combo gives the trailer a curious tone, imo.

As for the story — short version — a schoolgirl is thrown about a century into the past (i.e., ~100 years) and almost becomes yokai fodder. It's less cozy time-slip, more sudden, eerie tumble.
