Next Version of Firefox Will Let You Control AI in the Browser as You Wish
At the end of February, Mozilla will release a Firefox update that will give users detailed control over AI-based features. The new control panel will allow users to either completely disable all such tools with a single switch or configure each of them individually.
The key option will be "Block AI Enhancements," which will halt the operation of all current and future neural network features, including recommendations. At the same time, users will be able to individually enable tools such as page translator, image description generation in PDFs, smart tab grouping, enhanced link previews, and access to chatbots via the sidebar.
This decision reflects Mozilla's position on developing AI strictly as an optional technology for the user. The update is being released during a period of growing attention to privacy and control in the digital environment. Firefox's approach is distinguished by embedding such tools directly into the official settings, unlike the need to install third-party scripts for other browsers.
The release of version 148 with the new panel is scheduled for February 24, 2026.
