AYANEO may stop production of popular portable consoles due to rising prices
AYANEO is signaling a shift: memory and storage costs have spiked, and that squeeze is already being felt across the portable gaming PC space. The price jump is hitting components hard, esp. DRAM and NAND, and margins are slimming fast.
The AYANEO KONKR Pocket FIT 8 Elite looks particularly exposed. The maker warns the next production run could be the last one for this model — margins reportedly no longer make continued manufacturing viable given current component prices.
After current inventory clears, some models might vanish from storefronts for a while or come back only in very limited runs. AYANEO does intend one more sales wave for the Pocket FIT 8 Elite right after it fulfills outstanding pre-orders, but beyond that the picture is uncertain (not great news if you were planning to buy).
Other products are affected as well. For instance, the AYANEO Pocket DS pre-order batch is tiny — roughly 200 units — and the company can’t say whether it’ll continue that line in the same way.
AYANEO also warns of possible additional price hikes and even temporary production pauses for certain devices. The outcome depends on how quickly component markets calm down; at the moment those markets remain volatile and timelines are unclear.
