"Avatar: Flame and Ash" Box Office Declines Significantly: Film Earns $1.2 Billion in a Month

In four weeks of release, the third "Avatar" film — "Flame and Ash" — has grossed $1.231 billion worldwide. The majority of the box office ($888 million) came from international markets, while the film earned $342.6 million in the US.

Although the earnings are impressive, the pace lags behind previous installments. Over the same period, "The Way of Water" grossed $1.713 billion, and the original "Avatar" earned $1.335 billion. This makes it unlikely to repeat their phenomenal records; however, the current results still ensure the franchise's success.

Disney has already announced plans for continuations: the fourth film will be released in December 2029, and the fifth in December 2031. Director James Cameron previously expressed concerns about declining interest in movie theaters, but "Flame and Ash"
