Aurora Gaming Defeats Tundra at DreamLeague Season 28 in Dota 2
Aurora Gaming defeated Tundra Esports in the second group stage of DreamLeague Season 28 in Dota 2. The series ended 2:1, allowing Egor "Nightfall" Grigorenko's squad to climb to first place in the standings.
On the first map, Tundra completely dominated the lanes, won the draft in terms of tempo, and literally crushed their opponents in terms of kills: 28:3. The game ended quickly with no chance for a comeback. Aurora failed to hit any of their key timings.
However, the situation changed afterwards. On the second map, Aurora played much more carefully. Nightfall secured comfortable farm, and the mid-game was already dictated by "Aurora."
The decisive third map lasted over an hour. It was a positional game. Both teams played cautiously, accumulating resources and waiting. In the late game, Aurora proved to be more composed. Several won teamfights and perfect Roshan control allowed them to close out the series.
After this victory, Aurora rose to the top spot in the second stage standings. Even after the 3:28 crushing defeat, the team managed to adapt. Tundra, meanwhile, remains in the upper part of the tournament table. Despite the loss, the team retains good chances of advancing to the playoffs thanks to stable results in previous matches.
Aurora is approaching the decisive stretch of the tournament in peak form. Previously, the team won DreamLeague Division 2 and FISSURE Universe, and their undefeated streak has already exceeded twenty matches.
Tundra in 2026 looks more unstable than before. The team is capable of dominating in the early stage, as shown on the first map, but sometimes struggles with closing out games.
The game day turned out to be eventful. In parallel series, several teams exchanged maps, further complicating the tournament standings. The favorites continue to drop points, and the fight for the top-4 remains extremely tight. Some teams are showing unexpected picks and adaptation to the current meta, where priority is given to heroes for prolonged teamfights and a solid late game.
DreamLeague Season 28 is being held online from February 16 to March 1. $1,000,000 and 23,090 EPT points are at stake.
