Alexander Karpazis Steps Down as Creative Director of Rainbow Six Siege
The leadership of the online shooter Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege is changing — Creative Director Alexander Karpazis announced that he will leave his position after the upcoming Six Invitational tournament.
Although I’ll miss the world of Siege, I’m very excited to enjoy it as a player, and to begin a new journey. I’m thankful to the team for letting me start this new chapter of my career. — Alexander Karpazis (@karpazis)
According to the developer's statement, he is not leaving Ubisoft, but will no longer be involved in supporting Rainbow Six Siege.
I am proud to have been part of the Siege team for the last eight years, and a Siege player for even longer. Words cannot express how much this game has impacted my life; the incredible team I was part of, our joint work, the adventures I participated in, and the people I met along the way have deeply impressed me and made my life richer season after season. It has been an honor to spend half of my professional career working on Siege. In March, one of the most unusual Siege seasons we have ever worked on will begin. This moment will be the peak from which I can proudly set off to face new challenges within Ubisoft. — Alexander Karpazis
The new leader of Siege is Game Director Joshua Mills, who has been working on the action game for over four years. According to Karpazis, the preparation for the handover of duties was extremely thorough — it lasted more than a year.
For the past 4+ years, I’ve had the honour of working alongside one of my favourite people: @karpazis Today, we are both starting down new paths on our game dev journey. Paths I hope cross again in the future. Alex, you will always be part of Team Rainbow. — Joshua Mills (@iSmallville)
Recall that on February 15 at 19:00 Moscow time, Ubisoft will present the Year 11 development plan for Siege.
