After losing the first battle, the British union is now accusing Rockstar of spying on employees
A court in Glasgow is hearing a case about alleged union busting at Rockstar Games. The IWGB union, representing 31 fired employees, is accusing the company of secretly infiltrating a private Discord server where unionization was being discussed.
According to the union, Rockstar planted an employee posing as a colleague on the server to monitor discussions. The information obtained was then used to justify dismissals on the grounds of "gross misconduct," including the leak of information about Grand Theft Auto VI.
Rockstar denies any connection between the dismissals and union activity, insisting that the leaks of confidential information were the reason. The company also claims that a journalist was present on the Discord server, which, in its opinion, takes the discussions beyond the scope of labor law-protected negotiations.
The court has already rejected the union's first request for temporary payments to dismissed employees during the proceedings. Rockstar welcomed the decision, saying it confirmed its position. The union, however, intends to continue the fight.
