A Map of the New Region Coming to Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred Has Appeared
Editors of the German publication GameStar, in their review of the "Paladin" class for Diablo 4, unexpectedly revealed a previously unseen map of the Skovos Isles — a new location from the second expansion, Lord of Hatred.
Judging by the image, this area, like Nahantu in the first expansion, promises to be vast, with seven regions and diverse biomes.
Arguments in favor of its plausibility:
- It matches the official description. Blizzard announced Skovos as a region with "volcanic wastelands in the west" and "dense forests in the east." On the GameStar map, the western region of Skartara indeed has a volcanic landscape, and the eastern part, filled with details, could be those very forested mountains.
- It aligns with official artwork. In one of the screenshots from the expansion's website, a character is studying a topographic map whose outlines are very similar to the leaked one.
For comparison: on maps from older Diablo games, the Skovos Isles (Philios, Skovos, and Skartara) were depicted as smaller and farther apart. Apparently, in Diablo 4 they have been significantly expanded and repositioned.
The developers themselves will have the final say on the matter. The release of the Lord of Hatred expansion is scheduled for April 28, and Blizzard will surely show the official map and detailed location screenshots closer to the release.
